Last night it was officially announced on BBC News that Patrick Ness has won the children's category of the Costa Book Award 2009 for The Ask and the Answer.
The five winners were selected from 592 entries, and will now fight for the title 2009 Costa Book of the Year which will be announced on January 26th at an awards ceremony in London.
