In theory this is a great book, but your child may not want to eat fish or eggs again. I am a huge fan of helping children to understand where the food on their plate comes from and that is the purpose of this book. On left hand side of each page is a picture of a food item (e.g. a glass of milk) and on the right hand side there is a picture of where the food came from (e.g. a baby cow drinking milk from its mother). The problem is that the illustrator has made some of the right hand pictures so cute and / or sad that it may upset some children. For example, there is a baby chick hatching from the eggs on the right hand side, and the fish that is caught in a net looks downright sad. That said, younger children may miss these subtleties; and, while the illustrations seem targeted for younger children, some of the pictures in the book (e.g. the woman picking bananas) could be a great avenue for more serious discussions with older children about topics such as fair-trade.
