Peter Abrahams

As a child

I was born in Brookling, Massachusetts and grew up in Canada, the U.S. and the Bahamas. My childhood was very happy - lots of outdoor play. My mother was a writer and taught me most of what I know at a very early age. The most important thing I learned from her? Be original. I try to bend every note.

As an adult

I've lived on Cape Cod since 1982. I write in an office over the garage. It's a detached garage, so I have a commute of about twenty feet. But most important psychologically, is that we overlook a salt marsh - it is full of birds, foxes, coyotes, my favourites are the egrets.

As an artist

Into the Dark, book three in the Echo Falls Series, is my nineteenth published novel, including sixteen for adults. It really doesn't seem like a lot. I sometimes have the feeling I'm just getting started. I try to write every day, just the way a musician practises, except that on a daily basis I end up with actual product.
