Ehhhhh - come meet Henry Winkler this weekend!

You might remember Henry Winkler from his ‘Happy Days’ as the Fonz. And we’re wild with excitement that he’s over here in the UK – possibly in a town near you! Henry has been introducing people to a pal of his, who he has created along with his co-author Lin Oliver, called Hank Zipzer.

Hank’s a ten-year-old boy who is smart, creative and funny. And he wants to do well in school – he really does. He tries not to be lazy and he does his best not to be late. So why is he always getting into trouble? And why does he feel like the world’s greatest underachiever?

Hank and Henry have something in common – they both find learning unbelievably hard. Henry admits “Just like Hank my schooldays weren’t the greatest. Teachers didn’t know what dyslexia was at that time so I was labelled a troublemaker and the class clown. I got a bad grade in everything but lunch. I was great at lunch!”

“The way that we learn – if we learn slowly, if it’s difficult – has no relationship to our intelligence. Just because we learn differently, it doesn’t mean that we aren’t smart human beings. That’s something I need every child to understand. Out of my whole career, I think I am proudest that these books exist and that they are making kids everywhere laugh out loud.”

So come down and join the fun at one of the events to find out more – there’ll be readings, tips about writing and more – and you might even get to meet the Fonz himself!
